A Tireless Supporter for Decades
Libby McCullough didn't have an easy time finding a job in the '60s. The single mother of three applied for many positions before landing one as a unit clerk at Magee-Womens Hospital's ER. The job turned out to be "the best education I ever had," she says. Her gratitude for the job inspired years of unflagging service and philanthropy.
Libby not only worked in the fast-paced ER but also organized fundraising events and stepped in as volunteer director at times. She served as president of the Women's Auxiliary, a volunteer group that raises funds to support patient care and comfort. She has sat on the board of directors of Magee-Womens Foundation for more than 20 years.
Libby has observed the growth of Magee-Womens Research Institute (MWRI), founded in 1992, with particular interest. She is fascinated with the plethora of women's health research being conducted. The Institute's passion for women's health matches her own.
Over the years, Libby and her family have donated nearly $50,000 to Magee. She is not only a donor but also an ambassador for Magee, inspiring others to give.
"Libby is a longstanding advocate for Magee," says Peggy Joy, chairwoman of the Magee-Womens Research Institute & Foundation board of directors. "She is a tireless supporter of the groundbreaking women's health research being conducted at the Research Institute, which directly impacts the outstanding patient care at the hospital. She has educated scores of individuals about the valuable strides being made here. We thank Libby for her admirable and tenacious dedication to Magee."
